Pianono

Pianono is a Filipino rolled sponge cake filled with sweet buttercream, often topped with sugar and/or jam for a delightful touch of sweetness. Its light, airy texture and rich filling make it a popular dessert or snack during celebrations or as an everyday treat. Make Pianono using an Imarflex Turbo Broiler with this recipe.

1 cup flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
pinch of salt
1tsp. Baking powder
5pcs egg, yolks and white separated
1/2 cup strawberry jam

1. Preheat the turbo broiler at 325°F / 160°C.
2. In a large bowl, beat eggs until fluffy, gradually stir in sugar until smooth and thick.
3. Sift flour, baking powder and salt then fold into the egg mixture.
4. Pour into a baking tray lined with wax paper.
5. Bake with the same settings for 15 to 20 minutes or until springs back when gently pressed.
6. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
7. Spread the strawberry jam on the top of the sponge cake then roll tightly.
8. Dust the roll with sugar. Cut into thin slices to serve.
