Strawberry Shortcake
Strawberry shortcake is a light, fluffy dessert made with layers of sponge cake, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream. It’s a refreshing and decadent treat, perfect for celebrating the sweetness of ripe strawberries in the summer. Bake strawberry shortcake using an Imarflex Turbo Broiler with this recipe.
Shortcake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Salt
2 tbsp. Sugar
1/4 cup and 2tbsp. Shortening
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup water (optional)
Topping:
1/2 cup all-purpose cream
2 tbsp. Confectioners' sugar
300g. Fresh strawberries, washed and halved
1. Preheat turbo broiler at 450°F / 230°C.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
3. Cut in shortening until mealy, add milk and enough water to form a soft dough. Form into patties.
4. Transfer to an ungreased baking sheet and bake in the turbo broiler for 15 to 20 minutes or until done. Let it cool.
5. Beat cream until thick then add the sugar.
6. Get one layer of shortcake. Spread with half of the cream.
7. Arrange strawberries on top. Chill before serving.
